Mountain View Nursing Home is unique in the amount of volunteers on staff. It is this voluntary service program which sets us apart from most nursing homes. Our volunteers bring so much life and vitality to the nursing home environment. They are young people from conservative Mennonite, Beachy, and Amish churches across the United States, Canada, and other countries. We have approximately 35 young people on staff volunteering as certified nurse aides, dietary aides, maintenance, janitors, laundry, housekeeping, and office personnel. Most of our volunteers are here for 12-18 months. They receive the necessary training for each position they fill, an incidental allowance, and dormitory room and board during their stay. A portion of the funds generated as a result of having volunteer help goes to support various mission organizations. Some of the main organizations we support are Amish Mennonite Aid (AMA), Mission Interests Committee (MIC), and the Costa Rica Missions. We also share with a number of other ministries on a much smaller scale. These gifts are greatly appreciated by the above missions. We also provide spiritual instruction and opportunities for our staff to be stretched and challenged in every area of life.
